Our Programs
From Infants to Kindergarten Prep
Sugar Plums provides programs for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old, all focused on learning through Purposeful Play. In all seven of our classrooms, our teachers utilize a robust, expert-developed, research-backed curriculum that fosters learning and self-growth, creating an environment that prepare our students to thrive in school and beyond. We're building the foundation for a lifetime of self-esteem, creativity, curiosity and playfulness.
Infants
Ages 6 weeks to 18 months
Sugar Plums welcomes students from 6 weeks and older into our infant program. Your little one starts their playful learning journey with Sugar Plums with a mindful transition from their home to our home. More than just day care, infants in our Gumdrops, Lemondrops, Tootsie Pops and Sweethearts classrooms are introduced to important developmental skills appropriate for their age and are encouraged to explore the world around them with guided play. Before you know it, your child will be signing, crawling, and exploring.
Classrooms: Gumdrops, Lemondrops, Tootsie Pops &
Sweet Hearts and Jelly Beans
Toddlers
Ages 18 months to 2 years old
Beyond acquiring gross motor skills like running, jumping and climbing, your toddler will begin to acquire fine motor skills (they'll learn to hold that spoon), speech skills, and critical social & emotional skills like learning to play with others, taking turns, and sharing. Each week our Jelly Beans will surprise you with how much and how quickly they learn.
Preschool
Ages 2 years to 3 years old
In the Lollipops classroom, our preschooler's are explorers and our teachers are their guides, helping to encourage your child's curiosity and passion for learning. Your children will be learning some important basics (numbers, counting, shapes, colors, the alphabet), tackling critical cooperation skills, improving gross and fine motor skills, and mastering social skills like confidence and independence.
Classroom: Lollipops
Kindergarten Prep
Ages 3 years old to 5 years old
As our Sugar Plums classroom children get ready for formal school, our curriculum focuses on teaching literary and language skills and math skills, but more importantly focuses on helping our children learn to be learners, how to discover how things work, and how to find answers to problems. We also focus on important social and emotional skills to help them navigate the upcoming change with new schools and new friends.

Special Needs Support
Do you think your child may be developmentally delayed? Or do you already know your child requires additional intervention services? Sugar Plums can help meet your child's unique needs.
Sugar Plums offers informal evaluation services, utilizing the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) diagnostic tool, for those children whose parents and or teachers believe there may be a need. The ASQ is the preferred evaluation of the Maryland State Department of Education used to monitor the development of children ages one month through five years of age. In addition, should the situation warrant it, Sugar Plums can help coordinate a formal evaluation by a licensed professional for special education.
Should an evaluation results indicate a need for intervention, Sugar Plums partners with parents to modify classroom curriculum to meet your child's needs.
Sugar Plums also welcomes outside therapists and practitioners to participate in your child's development.
